Chris Tomlin, one of the most influential voices in music and heralded as “the most often sung artist in the world” by TIME Magazine, was surprised with a plaque presentation recognizing more than 8 billion career streams while visiting the iconic and storied Capitol Records Tower yesterday – the flagship to the only record label he has called home for his entire career, Capitol Christian Music Group. Maintaining the same label partnership for almost three decades is a rarity in today’s music industry and reflects a remarkable relationship that has helped shape one of the most influential careers in Christian music.
The celebration of this career achievement, rare for any artist of any genre of music to reach, capped a history-making weekend for Tomlin and his “Worship Under the Stars” concert series. The weekend began with a sold-out concert at the legendary Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, where the evening featured the first drone show ever at the iconic venue. Tomlin wrapped his history-making weekend in San Diego with a sold-out concert at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park which was the first-ever Christian music concert at the venue.
From reaching more than 8 billion career streams, to breaking new ground at two of Southern California’s most iconic venues, the weekend marked history at every turn while highlighting Tomlin’s continued impact after more than three decades of helping to give people around the world a voice to worship God.
